Hooray! We have been awarded a gold medal by Ecovadis! This means that we are among the top 5% of companies worldwide in terms of sustainability and social responsibility. Ecovadis is renowned for its impartial assessments. Read on to find out what this gold medal means.
How Ecovadis evaluates
Policy, measures, and results guide the research. Through these three lenses, they examine the following 21 criteria:
• Environment: energy consumption & GHGs, water, biodiversity, air pollution, materials (+ chemicals and waste), product use, product end-of-life, customer health and safety, and environmental service and defense.
• Labor and human rights: employee health and safety, working conditions, social dialogue, career management & training, child labor & involuntary labor, discrimination & harassment, and external stakeholder rights.
• Ethics: corruption, anti-competitive practices, and responsible information management.
• Sustainable procurement: using sustainable suppliers and social suppliers.
The assessment process is adapted and personalized for each company so that Ecovadis can determine sustainability and the degree of corporate social responsibility as accurately as possible.
What exactly does Blossombs do?
Of course, we always work according to our principle: beautiful for you and beautiful for nature. But, for clarity's sake, we will also list everything we do:
• Production: all Blossombs products are made entirely in the Netherlands. We try to keep everything as close to home as possible. For example, many products are assembled in our office in Breda by people who are distanced from the labor market.
• The Blossomb: Blossombs seed bombs are organic and therefore consist of 100% natural ingredients. They are filled with organic seeds, fibers, and clay. The beautiful color comes from natural pigments.
• Impact: we make an impact every day, even in winter! The wildflowers that grow from our bombs are incredibly good for nature. They provide food for bees and butterflies, but also provide shelter, richer soil, and greater (local) biodiversity. But for us, making an impact also means organizing a Green Friday instead of a Black Friday. Last Green Friday, for example, we donated more than 200 gifts to the Jarige Job Foundation!
In Kirsten's words:
"I am extremely proud! Not because of the medal itself, but because it confirms that our choices really do make a difference. For us, sustainability is a journey in which we constantly make conscious choices."
